Sunday Is the Source
Most churches start every week from zero, hunting for something to post. Here’s how to make Sunday the place your content actually comes from.
I used to think Sunday was just an event too.
You plan it, you pull it off, and then Monday you start over. That’s how most church leaders I talk to treat it. And it’s why social media feels so hard. Not because coming up with ideas is hard, but because you keep starting from nothing.
Here’s what I’ve noticed.
Sunday comes and everything that makes your church special shows up in one room. People experiencing worship in a way that’s changing their lives. The volunteer who came early to make the coffee. The kid who walked into Kid Min and felt like he belonged because a smiling volunteer was there to welcome him. The greeter who remembered a name from last week. The sermon itself.
That’s your church. Fully visible. All at once.
Then Monday comes and the hunt for something to post starts back at zero. Like none of it happened.
The reason is almost always the same. The moment was never captured.
What Sunday Actually Is
Sunday is the one moment your entire church is visible at once. The message. The worship. The kids ministry. The volunteers. The welcome. The community actually being a community.
When you set up Sunday to be the source you pull from all week, you stop inventing content and start showing people what your church is already about. That shift changes everything about how Monday feels.
What a Sunday Worth Capturing Looks Like
You don’t need a media team to start. You need someone paying attention. Here’s the whole setup.
- One person to capture. Their only job on Sunday is to notice, not to produce.
- A few real moments. A couple of photos. One short clip of worship or the welcome.
- One sentence worth remembering. Something you overheard that stuck.
- One place to put it. The same folder, every single week.
Put those together and you have a simple habit. Notice, capture, save.
Do this for a month and Monday stops being a blank page. You open the folder and the week is already there.
Start This Sunday
Pick one person. Give them one job this Sunday. Notice and capture. A few photos, one clip, one sentence. Drop it all in one folder.
Then do the same thing next Sunday.
A full content calendar is not the whole job. But Sunday is where it starts.
